How’s it going? Hope you had a good transition from 2014 to 2015, it’s already the 4th of Jan but I don’t feel as if the Year has been let out of the starting gate at break neck speed as of yet, If you know what I mean.. That being said a few days into the new year I have been reflecting and trying to figure out what to aim my sights on with (hopefully) laser like precision and focus. Figuring out what I like to do, so I can do more of it, figuring out what I should be doing less so I have more time and energy for things which demand my attention. The brainstorming continues but one thing I have realised is that I should be doing more of is blogging, but why may you ask, what do I get out of it, in fact why did I start to begin with?

Well from what I can remember I started blogging to showcase my progress through University and the projects I was working on. Eventually though after my time at University my commitment was sketchy at best for various reasons (Excuses I know..) After a while though I decided to give the whole blogging thing another go, give it a different look and talk about thoughts and experiences that I felt the urge to share.

The process of transmuting thoughts to word was difficult though it become more natural after a few posts and a bit more confidence. The thought of who I was writing for always raised questions in my mind, I didn’t really know who my potential readers would be or what my focus was, same holds true to this day, looking at my blog it is mishmash of posts. Again I put my hands up and admit that I haven’t really committed to what expressing what it at the core my blog and why it warrants attentions. Regardless I still then and to the present moment feel a sense of satisfaction whenever I publish a post but I have been wondering though what would my blog be if I gave it greater attention like I do my 9-5 to job for example?

There are certainly plenty of directions I could take Grade-G, what more do I want get out of my blog, what do I want my current subscribers to gain from reading my blog and what can be done to really get more people reading. It’s always been food for thought, more so now as it’s the start of the new year and an opportunity to lay new foundations. There are obvious things I can do such as: Post more content, post more frequently, promote more through social media. I feel without the right motivation though it will only come across as half hearted and frankly probably not worth anyones time (harsh but true).

The plan, get more focused and revaluate or even reinvent, there is no shame in changing and mixing things up a little!

Till the next time.

It’s Sunday and I almost decided not to blog…..

A very good evening to you, a late one at that….

Hope your weekend has been a good one whatever you decided to get up to. As for me it has been one of almost zero productivity in any shape or form. This being said I was decided to not to post today as I just couldn’t decide what to write about. I guess I feel that whenever I write about something it has to be something that is bigger than myself, something that is supposed to make you think. It’s never really my intention it just so happens it’s down to timing and also I don’t want to bore my readers, then again though I get very little feedback so I don’t actually know if I am doing a good job…

Enough of the rambling though, I have 15min to get this post done and uploaded before it is officially the start of the new week!!! So I want to mention something that is related to a previous post about my new year summary. One of the negative points of 2013 was not being their for my friends (Close) as much as I would have liked to. That had made me feel quite guilty during 2013, as I didn’t make enough time to lend a hand or that I actually simply didn’t have the answers or that my advice may have been falling on deaf ears (Is that the phrase..)

Well here I am 2014 and I can say I am hopefully taking steps to reconcile with those feelings of guilt and offering my services once again. Within the last 2 hours I’ve managed to hopefully offer some advice to a friend going through a tough time at the moment and I also met up with my best friend for a late night coffee (Black Americano for me) and heard his brilliant idea for a future project. I don’t want to reveal anything as I don’t want to jynx it but I really impressed with what he has come up with. Though I didn’t give him the idea or push him that direction I am super happy that he decided to share it with me and his enthusiasm. I hope that it goes his way and it goes without saying I’ll help do whatever to make it!!

So there we have it. I think this is probably one of the most lighthearted posts I have ever done, nevertheless it doesn’t make it any less meaningful then my other posts (In my eyes anyway) I hope you all have a brilliant start to the week.

2013 Year In Review

Happy New Year Grade-G Readers !!

I hope you have all had a great Christmas (bit late on my part) and celebrated in style leading into 2014. As you may have noticed it has been a long while since I have been active on my blog. There are plenty of reasons and excuses but what is more important is that I am a sitting here right now typing away on my shiny new Macbook Pro in the hopes of redeeming myself ……

So the 2013 Year in Review, in many ways you probably expected this was coming to a blog near you, actually it would be fair to say that you’ve had your time to reflect on the year 2013, am I right? Whether it was forced upon you or done in order to formulate your new years resolutions (I do have one but more on that later) it is definitely important to reflect otherwise you wouldn’t have any benchmark to compare the past, present and future against no?

Trying to sum up the year 2013 for myself as number from 1-10, 1 being the worst and 10 being amazingly brilliant, I would say a 7. It was definitely a better year than 2012 but there was plenty of room for improvement across the board in many different aspects of life. Here is a little summary of the good and the bad in no particular order

Highlights of 2013

    • Brothers Civil Partnership Ceremony
    • Year Anniversary in my current role
    • No major personal Drama’s
    • Reconciliation with an old Friend
    • Learning the art of being a little bit more content
    • Brilliant Performance review at work from piers and manager
    • forming new friendships
    • Taking more breaks from work ( A big one as I find it hard to know when to stop)
    • Saving up and buying a New Macbook Pro to replace my Desktop PC of 5 years

    • Making trips to Oxford to visit my brother and his partner as well as going to Dorset to visit a dear friend of mine.
    • Becoming more tech savvy and knowledgeable in various area of I.T

Lowlights of 2013

    • Many people passing away in the family
    • Probably drinking way more than I should be…
    • Not going abroad on holiday
    • Not being as available to help good friends
    • Not seeing enough of my good friends
    • still not learning how to drive…
    • Not getting into better shape or doing regular exercise
    • Not being as proactive in career progression
    • Not enough gaming (Huge backlog of Video Games to complete)

The above is an exhaustive list however it’s the one’s that came to mind the easiest, I am sure people who know me may feel there is more to add or even detract, you tell me I guess? So gazing into the past what conclusion have I reached and set my aim upon this year? Well I think I am off to a good footing for 2014 to build upon what I have and to play with at the moment. Time management is always going to be scrutenised not so much in being late but in allocating time to the certain area’s of life and really understanding what my priorities should be (Obviously subject to change depending on the scenario etc). The main aim I think I should be to live and act with more ambition. A pinch of more ambition behind many actions could help in moving forward faster and even to places I didn’t think I could reach.
